Today the war in Afghanistan rages on as our young men and women die while waiting months on end for additional backup troops as requested by Gen. Stanley McChrystal. But the President of the United States, Mr. Obama, a man who hasn’t even seen the inside of a military barracks, hasn’t figured out the right strategy for engaging the enemy.
Every private who has ever been to war can tell you that situations are fluid on a battlefield and so are strategies.
For Christ’s sake, the news showed a GI kick in a door in Afghanistan and most of the side of the house caved in with it. Later the entire village seemed to have disappeared. I would say that the strategy for that portion of the war had to be reevaluated on the spot.
But the Commander in Chief, Mr. Obama needs months to figure out how many troops to send there. That’s not a strategy, that’s just voting present.
Obama! Stop playing politics and just give the Generals what they damn well need and ask for.
