Wind For The Pickens
by Bucktowndusty
On BadEagle.com someone brought up a great point about these proposed wind towers that are supposed to power America into the future.
People like T. Boone Pickens are proposing that a massive corridor of wind towers stretch from the border with Mexico to the border of Canada, cutting America roughly in half vertically through the center of the country. But has anybody bothered to ask how these massive wind towers will affect the weather patterns of half of America which lies downwind?
The size of these towers is hard to grasp, and I'm sure they will alter the natural patterns of the wind. But don't take my word for it. A patent site lists the specifics of what wind towers will do:
This invention seeks to control the air flow pattern down wind of a vertical turbine, in particular to provide a structure including a wind turbine which creates a vortex condition down wind of the turbine which enhances the air flow past the vertical turbine. In the vertical axis wind turbine structure of this invention, a
rectangular shaped turbine with four orbiting panels is mounted to rotate
at the top of a pyramidal base structure which generates a substantially
horizontal vortex immediately down wind of the turbine, thus enhancing the
air flow past the turbine.
How many states downwind won't get the same rainfall as a result?
How many states downwind will suffer more tornados?
Will Al Gore's leer jet waste more gas flying through this manmade jet stream effect?
As far as I can tell, nobody in the mainstream media has even pondered this thought.
Shouldn't someone ask and answer this question about wind towers before we actually build them?

Old But Meaningful
by A. Hamilton
This month's cover of the New Yorker magazine depicts Mr. H. Obama in the Oval Office of the White House wearing the garb of a Muslim, and Mrs. H. Obama dressed as a terrorist brandishing an AK-47.
Although caricaturized and intended to be a satire on the incorrect perception of the Obamas, it unintentionally cast a very harrowing image of what's to come if H and M. Obama were to take command of the White House.
So, to cast McCain in an equally bad light, a mock Vanity Fair magazine illustrated the same caricaturized cover depicting the Oval Office as some sort of geriatric ward in which a decrepit John McCain is being supported by a walker and Mrs. McCain is about to administer a quantity of medications.
In doing this, the mock cover is equating being old with radical Muslims and terrorists; I resent this.
There is nothing harrowing or shameful about being old and it certainly should not be posted on the same level as radical Muslims and terrorists.
I'm 70 years old and it disturbs me when I hear that the Obama campaign is trying to woo and mesmerize the young, college-age block for their votes, in as much every time I hear this Im reminded of keg parties, shooters and bare tits at spring break.
Upon turning 70, I reminded my old fart friends, "I still have one good punch left in me." I remind Obama; come November that one punch will be my vote. It stings every bit as much as a young vote does.
