New American Tea Party Experiment

This past week, concerned citizens demonstrated nationwide to protest out of control spending by both parties of our federal government and our president. Dubbed Tea Parties, these protests highlighted the frustration and dissatisfaction brewing within America. As with any protests, two important factors determine protest success or failure—turnout and a clear call to action as to what to do next.

Turnout numbers varied from location to location, and without even having a MSM presence at most of the protests, media pundits (even so-called conservative ones of Fox News) doubted the validity and usefulness of the protests, inquiring as to whether they were “fringe” or “inconsequential.”

The Washington DC protest had about 1000 participants. But numbers are irrelevant here. What these pundits fail to realize is that we only have 535 congresspersons representing all of America’s 300-million plus citizens. How come Congress is not considered fringe or inconsequential for their small numbers?

I speak for all Tea Party protesters when I say these 535 congresspersons no longer represent me! Michelle Malkin represents me now! Rush Limbaugh represents me now! Mark Levin represents me now! And most importantly, the scores of media-marginalized, regular American Tea Party protesters nationwide represent me now!

So what if only 500 people showed up in Texas, or California, or Ohio. I pledge allegiance to them and their spirit of rebellion now. They are my representatives and I am theirs. Our congresspersons hold titles as our leaders, but we no longer honor them. Their titles are as worthless and our money they’ve ruined. This is why the protests were successful as far as turnout goes. Each protester represented millions of citizens that had to work that day to pay for Congress’s spending spree.

As for a call to action as to what to do next, I’ll admit shortcomings but provide a solution.

At the DC event a woman shouted, “What do we do now? Tell us what to do next!”

Several speakers recited standardized responses like contact your representatives, join Facebook to network for more protests, and get involved. I was left feeling a bit unsatisfied by this generalized advice that we’ve always been told to do as concerned citizens. Drastic times call for drastic measures and I have such a solution.

Each Tea Party protester, regardless of whether they are Republican or Democrat, should immediately change their voter registration to Independent or Undeclared. This is a concrete measurable tactic that media pundits and ruling class shills can’t marginalize away. On your form write “tea party” somewhere so that they will know why you switched. Imagine 50 million people dropping the shackles of party affiliation and refusing to donate to both parties that refuse to listen.

Some people may not want to switch, citing a lack of getting to control who would get the primary slot for their party, but I would counter by asking just what they would be controlling. If your party no longer speaks for you, what exactly will you control? Both parties voted for this Pork Package. Would not being able to vote for John McCain in this past primary have done any good considering he voted for the pork? Or Hillary Clinton; think she voted against it?

If primaries are still a concern I say fine; you can always change your voter registration back to the party you had before and vote in the primaries. But, that’s three years away! Switch NOW so that both parties can hear our voices NOW and feel the pain of millions of people leaving their parties and refusing to donate money to them anymore.

Besides, how can you be a rebel if you can’t even do this one simple act of rebellion? I changed my affiliation from Republican to Independent years ago and it’s given me clarity of sight and thought that you can’t get while shackled to a particular political party.

It’s a known psychological fact that once we decide on a course of action we humans will do almost anything to prove to ourselves that our actions were the right ones—even when faced with facts that prove us wrong. Party affiliation is a prime example of this. We’d rather stick up for mistakes our party made than admit something that would make the other party look better. We pander to party instead of country.

It’s time for that to stop. Don’t be a slave to the Republican and Democrat party. Be a true Tea Party rebel. Switch now and let the folks at New American Tea Party know you did.

Hello Mary. Spector is a piece of work. Apparently, he might switch parties, which makes sense considering his past actions.

Unbelievable.
